Cheap (decent quality) tyres

Hi all, first time poster so please be gentle:)

My car just scraped thru its MOT this week, but got an advisory notice saying I need 2 new rear tyres:( Can anyone recommend a decent tyres supplier/fitter, as most of the usual suspects (Kwik Fit et al) seem to be charging the earth? And what would be a decent mid range brand to go for??

Thanks:D

Ringing round your local tyre fitters not the nationals would probably get better/ cheaper results.

Try Blackcircles.com online. Get a 'fitted' price and then you can compare with what's available locally. I just got two of their 'budget' tyres; turned out to be made by Infinity (chinese); they have asymetric tread pattern and seem fine to me but then I'm not a boy racer ! One thing was the fitting station fitted the tyres the wrong way round so I had to go back to get them to change it but that was no fault of Blackcircles; just th elocal tyre depot that fitted them; idiots !

I personaly would burn those chineese tyres. Test have shown that the stopping distances can be greater than 20m on a wet road at 50 mph. That is the difference between life and death all to save a few quid. More importantly I hope the driver behind me on a wet day is not using those tyres.

For a cheap tyre they're not the best, but they're not the worst either.

    I use http://www.event-tyres.co.uk/
Type in your tyre size and it will give you different price options.

I know this isn't a particular tyre recommendation, but you can use it to compare prices to someone like Kwik fit

They are in the back of my estate car; I have Toyo's on the front. As I only potter around, I see no point paying for expensive tyres that are just as likely to get a puncture as my cheap ones. Fed up of scrapping expensive tyres that can never seem to be repaired no matter where the puncture is.
