Finally...he's ready to go back to work!

My partner has been on long term incapacity benefit since his Mum commited suicide and he found her. He withdrew, became agrophobic and depressed and stopped working. He has been on incapacity for almost 2 years which I know is ages but I really don't want to go into how bad he has been mentally any further.

We haven't been helped by anyone at the JobCentre to aid him back into work over the 2yrs and I suppose this cycle of not working hasn't helped his confidence.

Should he come off incapacity now and stop claiming benefit or wait until he has a job? I work full time therefore he is not entitled to JSA.

Is there anything that IB department can put him forward (like New Deal?) or something like this to help him. XxX

  • He hasn't been in touch with anyone really as of yet. We have tried looking for jobs today but most are through an agency and he doesn't have the right identifcation to sign up with them atm. Are MIND an organisation who help people back into work>
