A crash (or significant price adjustment, if you prefer) cannot happen in isolation.
It requires mass forced selling, which can only happen with recession, increasing unemployment, reposessions, etc.
If you wish for lower prices, then you wish for the misery that goes along with it. There is no other choice.
Yet there's been no misery caused by the last ten years of greed though right?
Pot, Kettle, Black... doesn't come close to your level of hypocrisy.0 -

He said:
"What I want is to be able to buy a reasonable house- a house that is historically commensurate with my earnings – and nothing more."
That doesn't suggest in any way that he wants something for nothing, nor that he thinks he wouldn't have to take out a mortgage.

I think we read too much into the posters' motivations on this site.
Yes, people pick a 'side' that benefits them and many on here are obsessed and feel they have to continually post about it but I actually think it's completely normal human behaviour and attempting to apply moral judgements isn't always appropriate.
A huge proportion of the population have something about which they are obsessive compulsive. Their addiction might take the form of food, football, china figurines, thimbles, knives, car modifications, the housing market ... whatever it is it consumes a large portion of their thoughts, they seek out those who share their obsession because it's exhilarating to find others who share their opinions and feed their compulsions and they want to talk about it continually in real life and on websites.
You can find websites for any and all of these addictions and people frequently get into heated prolonged arguments that seem baffling to outsiders who don't share their compulsion but they find it enjoyable, especially when there are opposing teams, it keeps the addictive material fresh and new.
All this is perfectly normal whether it's bulls and bears or Arsenal and West Ham.
I'm not belittling all our grave housing concerns, that's a separate issue to which I am not referring, I'm reminding us all as an aside that there's more to the behaviour of many on this board than meets the eye. The reason some posters seem driven is not just because of concern but there's a psychological factor there too.0
