How long to wait before opening an unpaid item dispute?

On any other site if you don't pay, you don't get your item. Only on eBay and related sites is the winning of an item not related to whether someone has paid or can pay for it. Although this is acceptable because the auction format necessitates it to a certain degree, it's not something to get uppity about as a buyer. You bid, you win, you pay within a reasonable period. An NPB dispute is one of the few tools the seller does have at their disposal and it's openable within four days for a reason: unless you tell me otherwise, that's when I'm going to open it.

Sorry if that's unacceptable but it's one of the few responsibilities buyers have and I'd like to see more of an ability to get payment immediately for BIN items as a matter of course now most people have access to electronic forms of payment and are used to using sites like Amazon and Play where it's the norm. If you can't afford something now, do what the rest of us do and go without until pay-day.

It looks like to consensus is completely different on here.

If a seller opened an NPB on me on day 4 I would be mortified as it would mean I had forgotton to pay and I would be falling over myself to make payment, I wouldn't penalise anyone for trying to get their legitimate payment.

Still, as has been said above any buyer who did that more than once would probably fall foul of the malicious bidding rules anyway and wouldn't survive on ebay long enough to be a bother to sellers.

Anyway sellers are being encouraged to use the automatic software to open disputes on day 4, I declined to join the scheme but get a reminder that signing up is advantageous, about ever 10 days. I suspect that ebay want the whole thing streamlined to stop all these silly arguments about late payment etc. I suspect that more and more sellers will be using the automatic manager thingt before long.

How many ebay buyers did you get this general consensus of. More than five and less than 10 . Not really much of a concensus considering how many buyers on ebay.

I'm not sure how much more communication buyers want. Mine get automatic one from ebay when they have won the item. I send a reminder on day 4. If you give anymore communication you get accused of harresment. How about some commu ication from buyers if they have problems paying? As communication goes both ways.
