massive gas and electricty saving

Options
Have just received my final bill, after 12 months, from "First-utility" provider. Total cost for dual fuel on "isave v1", for 12 months, is £820.61. My previous supplier was "StayWarm", and they wanted £1572 for 12 months supply!! Total saving for 12 months £751.39. We live in a largish semi-detached house and do not skimp on fuel usage. Now changing to "First-utility" isave dual fuel v5 for even more savings. Great customer service too!!

You may well believe that, I couldn't possibly comment.

  • Hmmmm...when I was researching these what put me off was the fact the savings included having to wait 12 months to get £200 back? So, if you left within 12 months the figure showing on the comparison site would have been increased by £200? Plus, when I was lurking on here there seemed to be lots of disgruntled, soon to be ex-customers of this company? Needless to say, I decided not to switch to them.;)

Until Feb of this year, we too used Staywarm and had done for years. At the time of termination I was paying about £94 per month then we moved down south. I allowed Southern Electric & British Gas who were suppliers to the house, to continue supplying and I'm noting every bill so far and I'm NOT being particularly careful or frugal. I'm sure when we have completed a full year here, we will be financially better of away from Staywarm, we will see.

  • We do not have any connection whatsover, nor shares in, any gas/electrical suppliers. The figures quoted are genuine, current, and include VAT. The reason we changed from Staywarm in November 2009, after being with them for a number of years, to 1st-utility, was because Staywarm increased our monthly repayments from £108 to £131. Yes you do have to wait until the 12th monthly bill to receive your credit, in our case this resulted in a yearly bill for dual fuel from 1st-utility of £820.61. As stated previously, Staywarm required £1572 for the same period. Because of these more than competitive rates, we have renewed for a further 12 months with 1st-utility on their new "isave duel fuel v5" tariff. The v5 tariff credits a 12% discount at the end of 12 months, a 7.5% discount for customer loyalty, and a credit of £20 for submitting meter reads monthly on the internet. This means NO estimated readings or bills. Having compared kilowatt usage & standing charges for the last 12 months on the v1 tariff against the new v5 tariff, my bills will be even lower by having transferred to v5!! Do the maths yourselves and you will be pleasantly surprised.

It's a shame your 1st post was about 1st utility, the company does appear using some comparison sites and not others :o, they do appear very competitive but then so did OVO this time last year, if nothing else the post and replies has made me more wary than encouraging me to make the switch to FU.

And the best part about them is that their marketing department is in on a Saturday early as well :rotfl:
