Should I still be receiving CB & CTC?

I am currently receiving Child Benefit and Child Tax Credit for my son who is 17 and who attends college on a full time course (3 days a week). He has got himself a part-time job doing 23 hours a week at £5 per hour. In the school/college holidays he will be working full-time. Should I still be receiving these benefits or should I inform HMRC that he is working part-time?
Thanks

No problems - you're still eligible.
  • Thank you for your swift responses.

I am not taking any money from my son for board because I am receiving these benefits but when he finishes college in May/June he will work full-time. Should I inform HMRC when he finishes college or will these benefits automatically stop?
  • You need to inform them when he leaves education.
  • For the Op , this info is copied directly from the HMRC website :

If your child starts work or goes on benefits

Your Child Tax Credit payments will stop straightaway if one of the following applies:
    • your child leaves full-time education or approved training, works 24 hours or more a week and gets paid
    • your child starts getting benefits or tax credits
But your payments can continue if your child works and stays in full-time education or approved training. For this to happen, the education or training needs to meet the conditions explained in the first two sections above.

    Hope this helps.
The loopy one has gone :j
