my husband who is on my insurence used the car and whilst it was parked a lady backed into it. she stayed a gave details admitted libility her insurance payed up in full i had to pay £250 excess which i got back then when my policy was due because the claim was still going on M&S put my policy price up but said they would reduce it when claim was finished. THEY NEVER DID so i changed my company to Shelia's Wheels. Price was a lot cheaper so i took it but it appears because i did not say that i had made a claim (which i never because it did not cost M&S any money) nor myself as the other insurance company paid all the costs Shelia's Wheels have now put my policy up and if i cancel it they will charge me £55 to do so. WHAT I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND IS IF I AM FULLY COMP NEVER HAD A CLAIM IN 36 YEARS WHICH WAS MY FAULT WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY WHEN ANOTHER CAR HITS MINE AND INSURANCE COMPANY'S CHARGE ME FOR THE ACCIDENT

not that i know about these things but i think your right.surely if the accident wasn't your fault your insurance shouldn't go up after you have already been given a price & joined them. hope someone can help you on this because you must be getting ripped of by these lot.0

I have had 2 non fault claims in 13 years of driving, one of which I wasn't even in the car when a lorry decided to write my little fiesta off. Anyway this to put my premium up each time. I was told both times by different insurance companys that if you have had a non-fault claim your are deemed more of a risk of having a claim than someone who has never had a claim!0

 that's unbelievable what a load of rubbish anything to get more money this sounds like.0 -
You are completely wrong. your terms and conditions will state that you should inform them of any accidents/incidents whether at fault or not.
You should have also tol Sheilas Wheels about the incident for the same reason. Sheilas wheels have been incredibly generous in upping your premium rather than cancel it for non disclosure. Its normal to cancel and if they had cancellled it you would have had enormous trouble getting another insurance to cover you.
If you are ever in a no fault accident and the other party admits liability, you should deal either directly with them or involve a claims acident company who will deal with the matter for you. They would also have dealt with the excess also. Of course you should also
inform your own ins. company and tell them its for information only.
So, to clarify.
Someone hits you, they accept liability, insurance company tells you in writing that they accept liability, they will tell you to go get quotes, the garage will fax them the quote, ins. company will tell them to go ahead. Garage does job. Claims company pays the garage, claims it back from insurance. (or if you deal with it yourself the ins. company pays the garage) You pick the car up and pay absolutely nothing.
But, like I say, its important that you inform your insurance company is, telling them it is for information only.
This happened to me in May, and just the way I explained above.
It was an emotional hassle but cost me nothing, not even a rise in my premiums.
Some do load the premiums, some dont. Its just a fact of life.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
