Had a small incident today

Was driving down queens road in hendon. Theirs a park their with a drive way that has two pillers to stop cars driving through but come down for the lawnmowers. I signalled right to go into that area so that i could perform a three point turn, as I was turning the car behind tried to overtake me on my right and clipped the front of my car.
I'm 20 years old and this i passed my test a few months ago, I was a little shocked and quite when the person was getting my details and i think he may be trying to take advantage. Was the blame my fault? The person will phone me at 10pm tonight to get my insurance details. Should I speak to my insurance before I speak to him? I don't think that this incident was my fault but I'm very inexperienced with insurance and i want to do what's best in the long term.
Their is very little damage to my car but on his theirs a small dent in the front door and a scratch that stretches to the back door
Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.

You don't need to discuss the incident with the third party, just pass on your details and get his. If he wants you to admit liability just firmly say you are unable to discuss liability, and suggest he contacts his insurer.
Then inform your insurer tomorrow and see what their advice is regarding liability, and whether you should make a claim off the third party.
If you get any correspondence from the third party you should just pass that on unanswered to your insurer to deal with.
If you have legal expenses cover with your policy you could discuss the liability issue with them, and see who they feel is liable. If it is the other party, then they will pursue a claim against him for your uninsured losses.0 -
If you indicated right and he overtook on your right...I don't see how that can be your fault as long as you didn't just indicate and move at the same time....even then i'm not sure why anyone would overtake on your right if you were indicating right to be honest. As Quentin said, don';t talk to the other driver just contact the insirance co.Good Enough Club member number 27(2) AND I got me a stalkee!
