told JC might have work, they paid me $250??

I have been claiming JSA for around 6 weeks now and told my advisor on Monday I'm going for an interview for ASDA. he explained im not entitled to any back to work/job grant bonuses . (I recently made a rapid reclaim. and had been receiving JSa for 7 months prior)

yesterday I was offered the Job and planned to inform them tomorrow ( as i don't actually have a start date yet). I just checked my bank and there is a payment for 250 quid... I normally only receive 4 pounds..

and ideas?

  • Maybe they misunderstood and have already closed your claim and paid a back to work bonus? Best to ring and ask I'd say.

only thing that springs to mind is the back to work bonus for people who have children - should it have possibly been paid at the end of your last claim and its only come to light when your rapid reclaim has been done - looking at the fact you had claimed for 7 months would show you were entitled to it -- 26 wks in receipt of benefit, no breaks/disallowances in your claim, starting work either employed or self employmed and expected to last for 5 weeks or more, you would also be entitled to housing and council tax benefits for 4 weeks called the run on.

    hope that helps

    Very confused

My partner works and receives working tax credit. The JC has has a letter from WTC stating her claim had come to an end on the 25th of october. and the JC payment was too compensate the loss.

We calling WTC and they stated the opposite, the claim is active and have no knowledge of this matter

Upon calling back the JC the advisor could not understand why I wanted to give back money that i was not entitled too!.. he said one his team will look into and call me back.
  • confirmed as a admin error and told from two different people "whats the problem...." they expect me just to ignore it and keep the money. Honesty is wasted on these people what a sham
  • I would definetely offer the money back in writing and send as recorded delivery as no doubt you will be contacted in about 3yrs telling you of the mistake and expecting you to pay it back in 5 working days:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
