Good evening all
I see from tv etc that all IB/ESA people will be seen for a medical in the coming years up to 2014.
As I am on IB not ESA I understand that people still on IB will be put onto ESA at some point.
Doe's anyone know if they still send out the long form "IB50" prior to the medical or has it been superseeded, I am sure someone will correct me (hopefully)
Anyone know if they are starting with the ESA claiments first or the poeple still on IB.
Any info gratefully received.

As the national roll out of IB ----> ESA migration begins next Spring and is supposed to last until 2014 the next questionnaire you get may well be an ESA50 rather than an IB50.

Also if you already have a review date on your current IB award letter then again at that date (or later) you may well receive an ESA50 rather than an IB50.

But if you are going to reach state pension age before 2014 you will be exempt from reassessment.

They are starting with claimants in Aberdeen and Burnley.

It's difficult to say as it depends on the area you're in and how busy they are. Also you aren't always asked to attend an assessment as they may be able to make a decision just on what you've submitted.
  • thank you for the quick responsce
  • Just quick question about IB
If you are decleared "fit to work" after your medical and want to appeal, is it the same as ESA you get a reduce rate of money while you appeal?
