Stay With Southern Electric or switch ?
Options
I have been with Southern Electric for over a year and when I last rang them (about 6 weeks ago) they said they would not be putting their prices up.
Can anyone else verify that ? I don't want to end up switching to a fixed rate and then realise that it was all scare and hype that didn't happen (Martin advised to switch 2 years ago) and end up fixed.
Thanks.

SSE gas unit rate increase of 9.4% announced end of October, effective billing from 1st December. If you want to stay with SSE Fixed Price 3 is best bet (12m fix) - DO NOT let them talk you into Ficxed Price 5, much much dearer!0

Hi hubb - So SE replied by saying they would not be putting their prices up, but didn't qualify how long a period this 'No Price Increase' statement covered.
I respect SE as in the main they deal with problems quickly and carry out the billing process for Ebico who are a boon to low users, BUT, they are not the most competitive supplier on the block
One year Fixed Price contracts are Expensive, and I take the view that they are only worthwhile if there is a general and hefty price increase immediately after you have signed up - the later in that year that any price increases do place, then the less worthwhile the Fixed price deal becomes.
Your best bet is to enter your annual Kwh figures into the Switch sites for a good deal, but always with the Insurance of entering the name of any supplier who's reputation you don't know, into this site to see what comes up0 -
I have looked into Energyhelpline and EDF who have a 5 star rating will save me £180 (19%) per year based on last years KW Gas and Electric consumption. They also give you £100 for joining (after 3 months with them) BUT they do charge a standing charge. Southern Electric currently don't charge me standing charge on their Standard Domestic tariff.
Does EDF seem a good deal ?0
