Are there any restaurants in amsterdam that cater for vegetarians or are there any italian restaurants

ive found some on trip advisor but can anyone recommend any

Casa di David, Singel 426 is one of the best Italians in a city which doesn't have that many good ones.

As for vegetarian Amsterdam has plenty of very good Indonesian restaurants which generally have some good veggie options.

Here are some others.

Beyrouth Kinkerstraat 18, Amsterdam - excellent Lebanese food made by the former cook of the Lebanese embassy in Holland. 25 euro for 10 fabulous mezze dishes, very nice service.
Ankara -Spuistraat 3a, Amsterdam one of the oldest Turkish restaurants in town - their mezza is superb too.
A La Plancha -1e Looiersdwarsstraat 15, Amsterdam wonderful authentic tapas in a nice informal atmosphere.
Oriental City -Oudezijds Voorburgwal 177-179, Amsterdam, best Cantonese dim sum in the country. 11:30 Am to 5:00 PM. Long queue in the weekends (mostly Chinese families), so be there before noon.

To be honest I found the food in Amsterdam to be poor. One place that was really nice though was an Indian restaurant just off Leidesplein, and it had good vegetarian options. I also enjoyed the little cones of chips with mayo!! I had Italian near or on Damrak, and it really wasn't that good. I'm sure there will be other good places, maybe I've just been unlucky with food there.
