I'm feeling rather pleased with myself this morning, having saved some money and sorted a few stocking fillers out all thanks to Martin's newsletter. I joined the site recently, and signed up to the newsletter at the beginning of the week. Got the newsletter today and it contained the link for Martin's Money Diet book at Amazon. Toddled off to Amazon (getting nectar points which will means I have enough for my last set of Buffy DVD's now :j ) bought the book, but also noticed a stars wars light sabre that we got for my brother for £8.00 instead of the £17 we'd paid at Asda!
Ordered that, the book and some amazing stocking fillers for my stepson at 50p each reduced from a £5, and including delivery (free cos it came to just over £15) I've spent approx £2 less than the original light sabre cost and got so much more, the light sabre is being returned to Asda this afternoon as we still have the receipt :T
This is just one example of how I've saved money the past two weeks thanks to Martin and the people on this site. Hopefully the book will help even more. Thanks for making that possible, my hubby and I recently got to crisis point and decided if we didn't learn to financially swim we were going to sink like a lead balloon, now we're learning to swim and saving money thanks to you!

A couple of weeks ago, we followed the link in one newsletter about saving money on council tax bills. We had the house revalued by the valuation office & I've just received the letter confirming that we'll be put down a band. On top of that, we get 10 years difference between the two bills - we think this might add up to £800 -1000 - what a result!! Will post the final figure in a couple of weeks when we get the new bill/cheque.
We're tempted to tell the rest of our street - I 'd love to be a fly on the wall in the council finance department if they had to pay back well over £20,000 to my neighbours!!:rotfl:July 2024 GC £0.00/£400
