HP printer installation problem

Just bought a refurbished C4585 and HP phone and website do not recognise the serial number so will not help. Spent about half an hour paying 5p a minute and left hanging on and on and on!!!
So it is model Q8405B, serial no CN8BQFB20p on the label but 57K is added to that in HP device manager.
So first question, why doesn't HP recognise this and how do I get help from them?
The reason I wanted to contact them is that the printer works fine with the lead but how do I set it up to work wirelessly?
The book and website only help if you run Windows! I an using Snow Leopard.
So simple instructions please. By the way I am with Talk Talk and have their EchoLife HG520b Router.

You may find this thread on another forum interesting.

In particular the statement "I was able to get this customer's C4585 to work properly by manually connecting the printer to his wireless network and then configuring the printer to have a static IP address". (Post number 5 - Paragraph 1)

Is it a wireless printer and I don't think HP will offer much support if you have installed Snow Leopard on it.

Thanks dispossessed, I have already asked on that forum but not had any replies yet. I have now sent a PM to Wi-fi-guy who seems to have helped others on there.
