We actually had the plans drawn up by a friend (who is an architect) so got a great deal
Most other quotes we had were in the region of 1500-2500

For planning, we just visited the Nottingham City website, and zapped off an email

They visited site and (in their words!") I "waved hands about" showing them what we wanted and where. It took them a week to respond with in informal agreement in principle.

The guys title was "Principle Planning Officer"

I'm in the same situation. I have been to the bank and they've agreed to increase our mortgage in principle. Need to get an architect round next. Really dreading all the faffing about though. I remember what like it was when we converted the loft. Loads of red tape!

I'm really interested in hearing how other people get on with their projects. :)
