Past Due Credit Solutions on the hunt

Hi all,
Got a letter from Past due credit with a case number and asking me to contact them about a matter concerning my previous address.
I left long before the dates written on the letter that the 'matter' referred to, so do not know if someone who used to live there used my name for anything.
I remember that when I did leave there, I got letters at my new address from my landlord saying that I had to repay an extortionate amount to repaint the flat. I ignored the letters, because they had to repaint it anyway, plus there was nothing in the tenancy agrement about paying to repaint the flat.
I've got a number to phone PDCS on but unsure if that would be a good idea to do that.
Any advice? Thanks

Right now i would check your credit file (free at experian if you cancel within 30 days). It might be worth checking to see that they haven't put something on there. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Hi
I've just read your thread and all I can say is PLEASE DON'T PHONE THEM.
I also had a letter on Wednesday asking me to phone them to 'resolve an important matter'.
I phoned and they told me I owed British Gas £176. I'm not with British Gas and know I don't owe anyone any money and told them so but to cut a long story short, by using bully boy tactics they managed to wear me down so that I finally and stupidly gave them my card number and agreed to pay the debt by weekly instalments.
I later phoned British Gas and they assured me I don't owe them any money and advised me to go straight to my bank as they are getting a lot of calls about this company.
I also went to the police but they didn't seem particularly interested.
Since then I've found lots of people who have been duped by PDCS. They are using lots of different phone numbers and are very difficult to pin down.
Contact your local Trading Standards, CAB and send an Email to watchdog but DON'T contact PDCS.0 -

Hi, they sound very, very nasty, so I do not intend to phone them. I'll just wait for their next move if there is one.
I cleared everything up with British Gas concerning the old address, so they are 'barking at the wrong leg' if they are fishing for that.
Though, it still could be the landlord trying to get his repainting money back. ???0 -

Agreed. Never, ever phone a DCA - it resolves nothing, and you won't feel any better for doing so.0 -
Got another letter from the 'lovely' people. This time giving more info saying that I owed an amount to British Gas and that if I didn't pay, one of their agents would come a visiting.
Phoned up British Gas and they confirmed that I had cleared up everything and that the money owed was not during my tenancy and also said that they were fishing hoping that some previous occupier would pay it.
They said that they would trigger a notification (whatever that is???) to say that the dates do not relate to my tenancy which would HOPEFULLY get them to stop this silliness.0 -
This lot are parasites of the highest order.
Put in a complaint to the OFT - a very strong one!
If bg confirm you owed them nothing, you need to get any monies paid to them back. I would get the police involved again, as what they have done is fraud - plain and simple......:mad:Happiness, is a Kebab called Doner.....:heart2::heart2:0 -

I've also just had one from them. A notice of "impending court action" Also claiming I owe British Gas money.
They have a previous address of mine but the period they are claiming that I am liable for is from the day after I moved out in 2007 to Jan 2010.
Only trouble is that I don't have my tenancy agreement for the property in question which would prove I didn't live there at the time and the estate agent I went through has gone bust.
I'm not too bothered though. I've emailed them saying "bring on the court case, I am available this week." If they send me any more letters, I'm tempted to send them a box of my 2-year old's soiled nappies by return post. Freepost of course.0 -

So, that's 3 years worth of gas bills they are after???
If you fully paid up the bill until you left that place, phone up British Gas, let them know the account number you had with them for that address, and get them to send you a 'Zero' balance' (confirming nothing owing for your time there) statement.0 -

I phoned BG. They have confirmed it's nothing to do with me. I am not bothered about it since I was with Southern Electric for both utilities at that address. I would absolutely love them to take me to court.0
