London Marathon

Hi-just heard I have a place in next year's London marathon (17 April). I am looking for accommodation for 2 nights (Sat and Sun) in central London close to public transport which will get me to the start at Blackheath. Accomodation near the start would also be fine but that is probably all booked by now or very expensive.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks

Have a look and see if your local running club will be putting on a coach.
Many do and you get there for the start and then they pickup and take you home.
No real need to stay in London-though of course it depnends where you are travelling from.

I wouldn't advise anyone to stay near the start anyway, you are much better off in the City Centre. I've done it a couple of times and stayed in hotels in Kensington and Kings Cross. Just make sure it's somewhere with good public transport links.0

I live in Blackheath - in fact the marathon goes past my door a few minutes after starting. There are good train links from Charing Cross, Waterloo East (connected to the main Waterloo station) and London Bridge. You can also take the Jubilee underground line to North Greenwich and get a bus, but that's a bit of a faff and the Jubilee line is sometimes closed at weekends (not to mention that buses will probably be disrupted due to the marathon).Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
