hi all

long shot of a question for you.

but due to winter setting in and hating coming home to a cold house, would any 1 happen to know what it would cost a day to leave my heating on

3 bed semi with wall and loft insulation.

boiler is a baxi bemuda 552 backboiler.

the dial underneath is turned to 2 (assume its water temperature control for rads)

just wondering if any 1 would know roughly what it would cost me to leave the heating on for a full day.

Probably best to just leave it on all day and take meter readings to see what it uses ;)

(be aware it will probably use even more when the outside temperature drops further)

Otherwise I think it has a maximum heat input of 17.1 kW ... but it's unlikely to be using that 24/7

Oh not this old chestnut again...it happens every time the weather gets colder...
OP, why don't you just set the programmer to turn the heating on a little earlier so that it come up to temp by the time you are home? That's going to be an awful lot cheaper than your proposal. if your boiler is so inefficient, or your house so badly insulated, that it takes all day to bring to bring the temp up from ambient, then maybe you should look to remedy those issues.
Some of the modern programmers have an 'optimisation' mode, which means that they will automatically adjust the start time to bring the house up to temp at a set time.
