Ad-Aware / Spybot

I've just loaded these onto a new (Windows 7) laptop and Spybot warns there might be compatability issues with Adaware. Any experience of this? Should I uninstall one of them and if so which?
On a separate but (sort of!) related note, Windows Defender is installed but doesn't seem to work. It's currently off, but when I tried to switch it on via the Action Centre, it flashed on then off then on for a while, then gave up and showed 'off'.

It will run a lot better with avast + malwarebytes than adaware+defender+spybot+anothervirus scanner, too much security software will grind it to a halt.!!

Virus scanner = M/Soft Essentials. I thought I'd see how that was before going to Avast (which I've used before).
I loaded AdAware/Spybot (and SuperAntispyware) as Defender didn't seem to be working, to counter spyware.0 -
mse comes with (replaces) defender functionality!!

Defender scans your computer at set periods or you can carry out a manual scan .It is a standard with Win 7 without MSE .
Adaware Sptybot and Super anti you will get conflicts with multiple toold doing the same job . Best one installed Super anti and if you want a double check use one of the cloud online scanners as a second option .

Surely you will only get problems if you try to run them together? not if their just installed and you run them when you need?0

Ah! Thanks. Though that begs the question why is Defender installed at all?
So does MSE also do what AdAware/Spybot and SuperAntispyware do?
Defender was Microsoft's malware solution before MSE, MSE install should disable and replace/update it.
More or less, no one product get's 100%, stick to one good resident scanner, and one on demand scanner if you want to work productively, duplication in resident scanners isn't a good idea.!!

Maybe but like AVs the rule of thumb has always been only one installed .

i would remove them all and use malware bytes and scan every now and again
a lot of virus software wont pick up the new breed of virus's anyway as they escape detection via different methods that i wont go into but they very rareley escape malwarebytes0 -
malwarebytes isn't a virus scanner, or a replacement for a virus scanner.
Running without a resident virus scanner is not advisable.!!
