New pc bought and i have the liteon 1633s dual layer burner, now what i dont know and would welcome advice is what speed discs do i buy/burn? in the specifications -
Write Speed:DVD+R9 2.4X, DVD+R 16X, DVD-R 8X, DVD+RW 4X, DVD-RW 4X, CD-R 48X, CD-RW 24X
Read Speed: 48X CD-ROM, 16X DVD-ROM
So would i be looking to buy 8 speed and burn at 4 speed? it has been dvdrw- that i have been using and dont really know what differance buying + discs which would appear i could burn faster or am i missinterpreting things? Any idvice most welcome.

All the modern DVD stand alone players seem to play either + or - R disks, I use + because my Laptop it a little fussy playing back - film disks
Dual layer (DVD+R9) are still very expensive, I have not even tried one yet TBH.
SVP have always looked after me, one of the best CS on the Internet.
{DV 3121} Datawrite Fujicode Grey (8x) DVD-R in Tubs of 25 are very good for - media
and
{DV 3180} Datasafe 8x DVD+R seem good for + media
Some DVD writer are more fussy than others, so I cannot say for sure which disks will work, but both the above work very well for me

Cheers i know the ritek and datasafe ones are good ive been using them it was mostley the speeds i was unsure about, am i right in thinking i buy x8 and burn at x4?The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Not exactly..
I have Ritek G04 4x discs that my Pioneer 108 DVD-RW will write at 8x without error.
If i used Bulkpac 4x DVD-R's at 8x i would lose 1 in 4 discs.
Always go for max burning speed unless you are burning games, and stick with a media your writer likes.£2 savers club = £83.500 -
I ask cause i have pioneer 106 which i believe is x4 i buy x4 discs and burn at x2, or is it just a case of trial and error? buy x8 and try buring at x8?The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

I use Ritek G04 been very good although my last batch was bad.
I dont think the g04 have been stopped as Steve (see below) from SVP has told me otherwise although that was a few weeks back
"There have been rumours of this for the last 6 months, and I'm sure Ritek would like to stop making them and just produce the more expensive G05, but the demand for the G04 is so high that they have had to keep making them. They have however reduced the number of G04's being made and the price difference between G04 and G05 is now very low in order to try and persuade people to move onto G05.
I'm not sure how long this will continue, but we have enough to last us for quite a while yet"
Hope Steve dont mind from SVP hes a nice guy this was sent to me mid Jan.urbanite wrote:cant really go wrong with Ritek G04 dvd's
