hi
my son has started taking driving lessons
he is looking at buying a car in the next month probably an 02 or 03 clio
my first question is would it be better to put the car in my name and for me to insure him as a named driver i have car insurance van insurance and bike insurance all with full no claims
the second question is am i allowed to put dual controlls in the car just while he is learning to drive:eek:
he would still be having driving lessons and would only be allowed out with me sat next to him
i have seen the dual controlls on ebay for between £50 and £100
thanks in advance

What you are suggesting is called fronting and if he had an accident his insurance would not be valid.
Put him as the main driver and add yourself as a named driver which will reduce the cost a little.
I've never heard of anybody going to the trouble of fitting dual controls, it sounds like a fairly complicated job to me even if the parts are cheap. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
The other issue with fitting dual controls yourself is that any potential insurer would see it as a modification, this would restrict the number of insurers willing to quote.0
