Hey im from Dublin and heading to Liverpool in February and just wondered if anyone knows of any deals on hotels in Liverpool city.

no its not . You will have a "experience" but its not worth staying around for it. The Adelphi is the armpit of liverpool hotels and smells like it too. Liverpool have the usual chains hotel Holiday inn / Marriot premire Maddison etc and some quirky hotels with lverpool touch Hard days night/ feathers etc . Feb in liverpool check whats on when your here LFC EFC Gigs@ Echo Aintree etc and outside these dates you will find some spaces in town Try to stay within a walk from a say church street and youll be fairly central. Although the trains to outer scouse are decent and finish just b4 midnight, hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -

The Adelphi was one of the finest in it's heyday, however it's reputation (deservedly some would say) has never recovered from the fly-on-the-wall documentary that was made about it years ago and it is not hard to search online and find some appalling reviews. However recent reviews on Tripadvisor are pretty positive

It has become a bit more tricky assessing the validity of views on Tripadvisor now. Since it's Facebook etc links, many reviewers are new with only one or two contributions under their belts0 -

Ranked 54 out of 96 on Tripadvisor - I am in agreement with you and Greenface!
OP, I have stayed at the Staybridge Suites twice, and it is possibly one of my fave hotels in the world (and I have stayed in some nice hotels!). A friend has given good reports of the Premier Inn also.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Thanks i have stayed in worse hotels than the Adelphi (worked here as glazing contractor too)But never paid a large sum of money for the privelege nor has there been much better hotels within a 5 minute walk.
I can imagine how well the Adelphi was in its "heyday" stunning location in a vibrant liverpool but that was the turn of the century and not the rencent century. Unfortuntly its living off past reputation as others do also (Charing Cross/New Yorker) grand iconic classical and still stunningly beautiful building that need to be preserved and looked after at all costs. But during the 70s and early 80s when the money moved to smaller hotels and different countries and belt were tightened these huge landmark hotels could only suvive by making rooms smaller dropping high ceilings and cutting top nosh for simple dining,Once this happened it could never go back to the original state ever .Some managed to hold back take the dip and still survive (just) now once on par with Adelphi/Charing X and New yorker the likes of the Dorchester/ Waldolf now stands head and shoulders above the run down others. I hope on day the Adelphi gets back to a state we as scousers are proud of and welcome visitors to it and lots of other top hotels in and around Liverpool to our historical city. But to do this it needs to be closed down and real money invested risks taken and years of hard work . Message to all Enjoy the Adelphi its not that bad but there are much better. hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
