The place I applied for the job have asked if I can do some hours next week as they're desperate for staff. They wanted me to do 1-6 every day but because of noone being able to have the girls I could only do tues and fri. It'd be paid but it seems a bit cheeky that they've not said anything about the job I applied for or even got me in for an interview and yet want me to go in and work for them as a one off when I'm supposed to be on maternity leave?
Don't get me wrong the money would come in handy but consider that my friend didn't even know if they were actually going to take anyone on anymore it just seems a bit cheeky! Waiting for them to get back to me on how exactly it'd be paid etc before I decide what to do. I've got my childminding meeting on tuesday as well which would me that I'd be out all day and Ste would have to look after the girls as well as taking them both down the doctors for Ashli's 2 yr check.

Hi
Just wait to hear all the details regarding the job, maybe they would like to keep you as relief worker therefore they would not need to offer you a permanent post at all. This is cheeky way to have staff if/when needed without the full commitment.
I'm sure Ste will manage, or do you feel that you need to be there yourself? It not a sign of a rotten mother if you miss a few things, you know. No point of stressing over perfectionism, we all do our best. Somedays I am fabulous and others... ( well, my growling at the children can be best described as satanic...).
Hmmm, if they are so desperate for staff, are they willing to pay you a bit extra? Have a good weekend.SSB0 -

Hi Sarah
Spent the last 2 and a half hours reading your thread - you are a star! :starmod:
I'm 23 and my gf and I had our lightbulb moment about a year ago - we sorted our debts out and started paying them off regularly but recently we've slipped up and overspent quite a bit which is why I came back here for some inspiration and found it in your thread. Thank you so much, you are an inspiration and now I'm ready to get back on track :j I might even start my own debt diary  It is really amazing how much you have acheived in such a short time are you sure you aren't superhuman?
Don't get too down about not being able to get good credit card deals and loans at the moment - a year ago I was in a similar situation but now my credit history has completely recovered - every month that goes by makes a real difference.
Regarding the job - if they are planning to take someone on then by going and working there as temporary cover you will have more than a foot in the door when they come to recruit. Even if they have no intention of recruiting anyone it will be a helpful bit of extra cash, treat yourself with half of it! I would go along and treat it as a work trial but keep in mind that you win either way. You might have to insist they pay you cash/cheque in hand so that it doesn't cause problems with your SMP.
Thanks again  I'm going to go off and get my own budget back on track.

Although it may be a cheeky way of getting staff to cover on an ad hoc basis. It could work out as the best of both worlds for you and the nursery IA. A little extra money now and again can make a big difference and if they're realy in a tight spot regarding staff, you may be able to take the kids in with you sometimes and at other times maybe MIL can help with childcare? Sometimes its worth trying something out if it feels right because it may be just the thing you are looking for and in the long run another way of dealing with those pesky debts!Proud to have dealt with my debts. Hi Sarah,
Just want to say well done to you. I to have two daughters now well grown up (31 and 26) but how I wish my youngest would be as savvy as you are with money!! she is currently in alot of debt and just doesnt seem bothered I alternate from thinking I must help her out, (she has a six year old daughter)to thinking if I help her too much it will make life too easy. This morning Oh and myself have decided that we will just make sure our darling Granddaughter doesnt go short. We bought her new school shoes this morning £26 which we cant really afford but she desperately needed them. I must say my other daughter is so OS I think she is my Grandmother reincarnated!! I wonder how two girls brought up the same way could have such a different attitude towards money?Away with the fairies.... Back soon0 -
Hi IA
You could always get Ashli's two year check done the week after next?
Maybe the nursery could pay you without it all going through the books just this once if you are helping them out?I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. If it makes you feel any better, I seem the most confidant and outgoig person you'll ever meet and I find baby groups DEADLY! Usually so clique-y and I always feel left out...However, I do find if I make an effort to TRY and speak to someone, they mostly end up being lovely...
Good luck next week-If you want soemone to help out with the kids, I'd be happy to help! (can drop them off on the way?)
