Right, you have £320 towards it already....why don't you challenge yourselves to come up with the other £180, we'll all put our heads together to see if we can come up with some suggestions...

That way it will be guilt free as you wont be adding to the debt, and you will both be able to get involved in doing something that you love.
You know what Ste's like though.. he wants it now and god help you if he doesn't get it..... :rotfl:

Have just been looking at ebay and found some for under £300 so we may not have to add to the debt at all if I can convince Ste....

If you pay off the balance on Citi by the end of next week as planned, have a look at the statement dates & you'll be able to work out the day to put the purchase on there to avoid interest as long as possible (i.e. if you buy it on the statement date it will be interest free until the payment date after the next statement) That will give you probably about 6 weeks to raise the extra money (£30 a week) Even if you can't raise all the extra in that time then at least you'll ahve paid the least interest on it.

Have you tried Freecycle? Then you get it for peanuts & not add to the debt.

To be honest I've given up with freecycle... something that expensive would be snapped up within 5 seconds if it were ever to get on there so we wouldn't stand a chance.

It might be worth looking round the internet though for specific sites for musicians - see if anyone is selling on an old set. Other option if you can get the cash together is to ask music shops (real ones, no online) about cash discounts - most will give up to 10% for cash. They might also have ex-display models that will go cheap.

I like Storm's idea of paying off the balance in full this month and then trying to raise the money to pay off the balance in full again on the next statement. It might save you a bit of interest - you could ring and ask them what date your statement is produced (if it doesn't say on the statement), and then buy the drums the following day to give you the longest time possible to pay them off.

Sar, I have one, it's a roland TD6 if I can find the flippin power supply. If you can get down to hertfordshire you can have it on (permanent) loan. Don't tell OH lol, he hates parting with any of our drum stuff, but I hardly use it these days, I spend so much time actually working I don't get the time.
