Just buy a Brother printer, they all use compatibles without any problems, no silly chipset to worry about.

If it is not printing black after a new cartridge has been fitted, then it is probable that your printer head is blocked, and no amount of changing cartridges will fix it.

Head cleaner chemicals can disolve the hardened ink.

You can do a head cleaner sometimes it may take a couple of cycles to do it

I always use Epsons as its cheap compatible ink

I can recommend these I use them all in printer

ive dont loads of head cleans and ive also used that company and they wont work lol

Then try using head cleaning cartridges inkrite do some or did last time I looked

I bought for that site loads of times and never once had a issue with my rx685 printer. I just got a order of 4 sets last week

Theoretically you have already invalidated the warranty by not using Epson inks.

it has epson inks in it now,so i think i will ring currys or comet cant remember with out looking lol. i think ive just been unlucky with this printer as ive always had epsons and always used compatibles. now i want a different make but not sure if i will get a refund now
