How to stream music around home

Options
Can any one advise what is the easiest way to stream music around the home?

I have itunes on my pc and have a mini Sony hifi in the living room. I have tried plugging my ipod nano into the hifi via the jackplug but the results are not that great.

What would I need to listen to the music on itunes in the living room?

Also if I wanted to listen in the kitchen or conservatory what could I use?

I have seen that apple do a device (airport express I think) but it has mixed reviews. Any other ideas or do I need to invest in an expensive music system?

    You really are spoilt for choice there, as there are quite a few products that are well established, and many more appearing almost by the day.

    Try taking a look at Roku, Sonos and Logitech's Squeezebox for products that have been around a while, and then Olive and Aurora have more recent ones - to mention only a few. If you want to go up-market, Linn and Naim also have devices that would work, but they are in the £1k+ range.

    One thing's for sure - you should be able to get any of the Roku, Sonos or Logitech devices working well with your existing Sony kit.

    I have a Squeezebox and it is very good. I know someone who uses an airport express and is happy with that. The other thing you could consider is an I pod dock such as the Arcam rDock which is suppose to sound very good.

    Another vote for what used to be Slim Devices (now Logitech) Squeezebox products. I've been using them for years (since the Squeezebox 1) and they work brilliantly.

    Take a look at some of the stuff on the link below.I doubt you'll get the kit cheaper elsewhere;
