Bill outstanding of £600+ will I be able to switch?

We currently have british gas as our supplier for both electricity and gas. We're happy with the gas bills but the electricity seems really high. Will I be able to switch suppliers with an outstanding bill on my electricity?

normally british gas are quite dear for gas but one of the cheapest for electricity i would check your figures HTH

In a word NO. You may be lucky if you have D/D on the account you may sneak thought but as a rule i think if you owe more than a £1 over 14 days your transfer will be blocked. Bgas are normaly quite good on the elec prices its the gas prices that are high..

There is no real answer to this, they may let you go, so that they can chase the bill alot quicker thru debt collection agencys.... or they may just so point blank no. TBH i would not move, pay ya outstanding off first then move as they will generally only set up a 3 month payment scheme if y leave..
