Is it a new email, or have you 'replied' to someone?

Sometimes if people send an email to my old email address and i hit reply it just sits in my outbox not sending.
  • it was a reply and was sent to my current email
I can even open it it says "cannot open this item. Outlook has already begun transmitting this message."

Switch Outlook in offline mode or disconnect the network cable and try to delete the message again.

Probably because the file size of the attachments exceeded the allowed amount-varies from ISP to ISP but rarely more than 10MB. So 5 pics at 2MB+ each will take you over the limit. Split the into smaller batches.

It's nothing to do with the speed of your broadband connection. All ISP's have an upper limit on email file sizes, which is variable-if you say who your ISP is, more advice can be given. For example, I use Gmail and the max size is 25MB. However that does not mean that my recipients can receive that size of attachment. If (for example) they're on BT, the limit is 20MB.

if it was a reply to an email that was sent to an old email address (from a different ISP) you may not be able to reply. I get at least one email amonth from a mate who who sends to the old email addy, when i click reply it just sits in the out box.
