Help tv saying no signal!!!

I got a tv about 18months ago which was for our bedroom when we decorated it . We took it out of the box and tried it to make sure it worked and then put it back in box till we were ready for it. (yes took 18 months for hubby to finally get round to it & finishi it:()

I took it out of the box the other day but I cant get any channels it just says no signal. I have been and bought a new indoor aerial and have tried it on our outside aerial but still the same. when I press tv/av button it comes up to tune in press the correct button and in green it say analogue tv, I am sure its something simple, its an M&S 23" hd ready digital tv, with a digital powerful indoor aerial. I rang m&s technical support but because i no longer have the receipt they say they cant help.

First - Unless you have a very very good signal you are unlikely to get anything like a decent digital signal strength with an indoor aerial.

You need to work methodically to establish where the problem is ... forget the indoor aerial for now - do you know for sure that there is a good signal from your outdoor aerial ? To check connect a TV you know to be working and see what happens. What type of outdoor aerial is it ? ...is it defnintely connected ? Is there an amplifier attached to it ?
  • The indoor and outdoor aerial are both working fine. I have tried both of them with the tv's in the kids bedrooms, so I know its not the actual aerial

If you are in an area that has switched to digital then you won't get anything from the analogue tuner, have you tried setting up the digital tuner.
No such thing as a digital aerial btw.

You could isolate the problem to the sets internal tuner by feeding it a signal via one of the scart or HDMI inputs.

As penrhyn says it sounds like your analogue signal has been switched over to digital, what area do you live?

Does the TV have built in freeview?

I also agree with penrhyn. There should be a button on your remote to switch between the analogue and digital tuners. I'd also recommend that you retune all the channels - if you did that before - as there have been a lot of changes in the last eighteen months. Ideally, plug it into your best aerial when you do this.
  • Yes i am sure the problem is that we have switched to digital last November. I cant find anything that switches it to digital. on the tv/am button i have tv, scart, hdm1 video and dvb on the if i tune in on tv its says no signal no programmes found. if i swtich to dvb i cant seem to find a tuning in button when i go into the system set up. When I switch on to say bbc 1 or bbc 2 then it brings the channel up with the blue screen just stating again no signal.

DVB is the input you want for Freeview.
Have you tried doing a Factory Restore, it should have that option in the menus somewhere.
Re M&S, you don't need to produce a receipt-you just need proof of purchase. So a bank/credit card statement should suffice-unless you paid cash, in which case you are stuffed if it is faulty.
Edit: although its probably out of warranty anyway now after 18m.

Most TV's have a single wizard/screen for tuning in both Analogue and Digital TV. So there is no specific one for just DVB-T.

If you give us the make and model of the TV we may be able advise you better. Silly question but have you read the manual regarding tuning in your TV? :)
  • Hi thanks everyone for trying to help me the model of the tv is MS2310DVB

You need to hunt out the manual and find the setup menu, sometimes you have to enter a pin to get into it.

The problem is that its a M&S branded TV, so its difficult to know who actually manufactures the set, maybe they have a helpline.

Does appear that the DVB tuner needs setting up.

PS long shot, it might be a Cello, info here
