Just heard that we've missed out on the house we've been after for four months. What is most annoying is that we speeded up the process of getting our own flat on the market, and then sat for what seemed like ages waiting for some interest. When it seemed like it would never sell, we eventually got an offer last week, and by Monday of this week it was all done and dusted other than a basic technical point that our buyer's solicitor wanted to check. So on Monday evening I arranged a survey on the house we wanted, and spoke to our own solicitor with the intention of offering as soon as the survey came back. (It's a fixed price, so no worries about how much to bid).
Last night (at 5:30!) the estate agents rang to say another couple had requested a survey yesterday too, and if we wanted the house we'd have to move pretty sharpish and then at 6pm I had a message on the phone to say an offer had been accepted.
So now we have sold our flat and will have to be out by the end of November, but have nowhere to go!
At what point should we start to worry and look towards renting somewhere? Has anyone found themselves in a similar situation?
