Hi
We are looking at spending around £500 for a laptop for my dd. We have used Dell before for all our computers/laptop, so have been looking at their Inspiron range.
Do you think Dell offers the best quality/deals or does anyone know of another manufacturer which offers better spec for your money.
Many thanks
Sue

Check out the sticky on this forum.
There is one permanent dedicated to laptops!
At present there are at least two wonderful Acers Turions 64 on offer for aroun 394 and 484 pounds, which would be nice and much better than Dell current offers.0 -
As someone in a huge dispute with John Lewis over their refusing to honour my statutory rights to return/refund, I'd make this part of your thinking. Dell drive you nuts, but imho they do take back a laptop that you are unhappy with in the end. You are ordering online; you may not like what you see when it arrives (as apart from being faulty). I asked JL about their returns policy and was misled. Dell - get it all in writing, which I think they will do.0

Acer Aspire 5101WLMi. £385. 60GB HD, 500MB RAM, 15.4" screen, wireless, 3 USB2.0, Dual layer DVD. Weve got two of these and a Dell Inspiron 1300. Much better than the Dell for less money, IMVHO.0

I got my dad a dell Inspiron for about £500 a couple of months ago & he's very happy with it. There were cheaper about but I use dells at work & find them very reliable.
I like Toshiba laptops the best but they tend to be a lot more expensive for the same spec & put him too far over budget.
