When i call Sky to marry my card to the new HD box (bought second hand) do i have to subscribe to HD, i.e. £10 a month? I presently subscribe to sky buy just want the free HD channels for now.

Nope, I bought a second hand Sky HD box and get all the free HD channels without the £10 extra e.g. BBC1 HD, ITV HD etc. They sometimes do weekends where you get access to either sports or movies in hd free aswell, worth keeping an eye out for!

No you don't. I know you have already bought your box, but for anyone else the math just didn't work out for me. I got a free HD box from Sky for the £10/month (minimum one year, so £120). All the second hand HD boxes I could find were more expensive that that.
