I've been following your diaries for a while now, with huge admiration for all that you have achieved. I know that everybody has already said this - but what a truly inspirational person you have been, and no doubt will continue to be, for us all.
I began my journey back in 2007, and still have a way to go. Reading your diaries has kept me going through some of the really tough times. But, I know there is light at the end of the tunnel!
It's at times like this, when you are on the verge of achieving your goals, that it's worth taking a step back and reflecting on it all.
I've just seen a couple of your posts from when you first started posting, quoted below, and it just makes me well up (even though I don't even know you!) at the thought of how far you have come.
So from me to you, a genuine, heartfelt "thank you". For taking the time to share the journey with us all, for being so positive and determined, and for being such an inspiration. Your Dad would be incredibly proud.Hello!
Have been reducing my debt for a while but still a way to go. Started the year with over £90,000 non mortgage debt. Scary but refused to run away from it. No way was I taking the option of bankruptcy or IVA without it being last resort.
So.....have reduced it by about a half - with some serious hard work and some money inherited following the sad loss of my Dad last year. Feel as though I owe it to him to keep on reducing the debt so the target for the nex year is to reduce it by £10,000.
The aim is to be debt free within 5 years. I CAN DO IT.:j :j :j
I am already claiming £000's from the Halifax for bank charges paid out in the last three years. Will let you know how I get on.
KimberleyYes it is sad and I would trade everything I have in if I could only have him back.
But this is why I have to carry on the good work. I owe it to him and to my children to get something positive out of something so dreadful. To be debt free by the time they leave school is something he would have helped with had he been in a position to do so while he was alive.
I see it being that I could have blown the inheritance on a new car or something else that would be gone instantly. At least by reducing my debts with it I am investing in our future.
That's not the only way I have been reducing it though - good old fashioned hard work, "beans on toast weeks" and saving the pennies have all contributed!:T :T :T0 -
Hypno,
So many have said it better today. Well done for getting to this, your ultimate goal. You didn't envisage this would be how you got there, but I hope that this next chapter in your life is filled with happiness and fun. Thank you too for sharing your journey. I know I have learned a lot and laughed, stressed and breathed a sigh of relief as something 'just' worked out to help keep those tricky budgets balanced.
With much love, admiration and a glass raised to you,
Urg x x0
