Looking for a laptop for under £500. It is to be used for surfing the net, maybe play DVD's and school work.
Have a gift voucher which can only be used at Curry's, Dixons or PCWorld. Any difference between these stores regarding prices. I expect PCWorld to have more choice.
Any good deals on laptop in the above stores?
which brand is relaible? have seen unheard of brand named laptops for under £500 at pc world. just wondering how good are they? also is it worth taking out extended warranty?

Not sure if it's country wide but was in Currys in Coventry yesterday and they had some great laptop offers under £500. Went next door to PC World and they didn't have anything near on price. The makes seemed all the normal well known ones. In Currys there were sale notices scattered around so not sure how long the sale has been/is on for. Good luck.:D0

Having worked for PC World, i would say yes have a look at all three again in about 3 weeks the deals will start emerging. By the way you do know they are all the same company!, and PC World used to match/beat any prices the other two were offering, good fun on a saturday afternoon if you have all three within spitting distance!
Even better if the voucher can be used online
:j I'm keen :j:mad: The name has been changed to protect the innocent:mad: Well almost

Well it's a big question, it's like "I have 15k, which car should I buy?", it might cost you £200-300 for the warranty, so not worth it unless you are extremely unlucky.
My answer would be something with 512MB of ram upwards and wireless.
PS Don't wait too long, and don't rip the counterfoil, the vouchers sometimes expire, and you'll get some hassle if the counterfoil is ripped.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

I believe some products are available for reserve online/store pickup for both PCWorld and Currys (but not Dixons I think) so don't know if there are any online savings to be gained by this which would still allow you to use voucher to pay in store.0
