Nice place for lunch in Leeds City Centre?

Hi.
Going for a night away with a group of 12 of us to Leeds in a few weeks and I would like any suggestions for where to book for lunch.
Doesn't have to be dirt cheap but must be nice food (tho a good lunchtime deal would be nice!) and don't mind groups.... we are a going for the xmas shopping market so need something pretty central.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

i live in leeds so can help..what sort of food are you looking for?
  • I have a few friends in the Leeds area who I meet up with regularly, and we nearly always go to Las Iguanas for lunch. It's reasonably central and they do Latin American type food, with a lunch menu that's £6.90 for a main, plus £1 for soft drinks or starters or £1.50 for wine.

  • Las iguanas is nice but its the other side of Leeds to the Christmas Market.

The Market is on millenium square, and there is a Ha Ha! bar/restaurant there which does great food and has a lunchtime menu. There is also 'Casa Mia Millenium' on the edge of the square which is a nice italian and has great puddings!

A few minutes walk from the square is the shopping centre 'the light' which has chains like Brio, Nandos and Cafe Rouge but there is also Browns here which is a lovely art deco style restaurant with great food, can get quite busy on a lunch tho! not sure if they have a specific lunch menu at the moment.

There is a new 'around the world' buffet in the light aswell but I've not been yet so not sure what it is like! seems to be a big choice of dishes, and its an all you can eat buffet for about £10. Might not be the best quality food tho!

I'd say Ha Ha or Browns for a lovely lunch.

  • If you are in Millenium Square then Thai Edge has a two course lunchtime special for £7.95 or £8.95, not sure which. The food in there is great, service is good and it's really nicely decorated.
  • Also agree that Casa Mia is brilliant too!

Lol, how right you are! But even so it's still good for picking up a few bargains. I went to the Xmas market last year - not very big but it had a nice atmosphere and there were a few stalls selling yummy continental food stuffs.

My favourite lunch-time eatery is Bella Italia (opposite M & S in Briggate) and they are currently e-mailing vouchers to those subscribed to their site for two pasta or pizza meals for £10. Offer runs till the 12th December.

Harvey Nics is excellent value at lunchtime and you can see the food being cooked, rather than the packet being opened and put in the microwave as it will be at chain restaurants.
  • Thanks for your replys. We went to Casa Mia Millenium and it was gorgeous..... so thanks :T:beer:
