If you gave me the right figures ....... then I gave you the right answer!
(Too smug. Incidentally the figure was circa £663)
Pleased it's worked out ..... but do bear in mind it's been there to be claimed for 4.5 years now! Still - you would only have spent it ..... so make best use of it. The calculation (for your 'understand it'?) is as follows (rounded) :-
Total income for the year £10,659
Personal Allowance (05-06) £ 4,895
Taxable £ 5,764
Tax due :
£2,090 x 10% = £ 209
£3,674 x 22% = £ 808
Total tax due = £1,017
Tax paid = £1,681
Tax overpaid = £ 664
If I'm feeling lazy ........ this calculator is good ... in particular for older years going back to 10% and 22% rates :-

........ if you input your figures (left side .... make sure you get the correct year from the drop down) .... you should get the same result (to within a £)If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Hi
Mikeyorks.
How are you?
You were so kind as to help me out a while back with regards to Tax Rebates.
Are you available to help me again?
Do you know if you can go back to year 2000/2001?
:beer:0 -
I know that there are others around who can also help you.
2000/01 is, unfortunately, long out of date.0 -

I'm fine thanks ..... but been having a few months off!
Unfortunately the year 2000/01 is well past it's sell by date. The latest you can go back now (see the table at post #10) is to 2005/06.
Sorry. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Mikeyorks.
