Tesco Clubcard Voucher Exchange

Just had a terrible 3 hour experience at Tesco. We have accumulated a large amount of vouchers and were keen to use them before they are reduced next month. Got notified of the exchange deal and decided to use this instead of the normal 4 times for meals & days out we usually take.

Visited the store to get glass's from opticians. Person didn't know how to deal with query. Spoke to Manager, told to go and queue at Service Desk for ages, swap vouchers and come back. Did this, seemed OK.

Decided to get some xmas presents and chose some & kept a tally of the cost. Purchased a phone too, and then some clothes.

Now have to queue up again at one of the desks. They didn't really know what to do. I had to buy a sim card for about a £1 to make the transaction valid for the telephone. In all the hassle & confusion we exchanged face value for the items we wanted to buy instead of only 50% without realising. (Nor did the Sales Assistant who worked through the vouchers with me.)

Went to the checkout, major queues as most other customers had hassle as well. At checkout, told had too many vouchers and should go and spend more or go to the service desk.

Went back to first desk we got them from. Not interested at all, sent us away to another service desk.

Queued for 30 mins to get served and told that I was stuck with vouchers I didn't want. Asked to speak to Supervisor, no luck there, then tried the Duty Manager, still no luck. Asked for tel no of Head Office and was given a completely wrong no to call. (They gave it to me, written on a piece of paper)

Found out Tel No and called Head Office. They said it was my fault & bad luck.

Great Loyalty tool from Tesco. Beware of how complicated and uncompromising it is.

As they say " Every Little Helps!"

Most likely an Ex Loyal Clubcard & Tesco Customer!:(

You've probably got a point about the queues, but you can't really blame Tesco for giving you the amount fo vouchers you asked for , can you?

CS: How many do you want to exchange?
    Customer; £100 please
CS here's your £200 of double up vouchers then

I can't see how Tesco can be blamed for you requesting the wrong amount and then handing over the wrong amount as well, it isn't exactly rocket science.

I've always doubled up when they have these offers, I'm no brain of britain but i honestly didn't find it complicated at all. I even managed to double up some online yesterday and buy a laptop.

  • How do you double up online? I have £29 vouchers to use that I didn't realise I had. Also, what can you use the doubled up vouchers on?

    Cheers, Han
  • The Tesco clubcard website tells you how to use online or in store, and which categories are included.

PPI on Natwest loan, Barclayloan, MBNA credit card, and Mortgagecare all repaid just for asking in 2012/2013!

Barclaycard - PPI refund refused 26/01/13, ombudsman upheld 12 May 2014, Barclays resisted until March 2015 - FOS say Barclays are calculating an offer, they have 8 weeks.
  • Thanks :) I found link for that just after i'd posted, was on wrong bit of website!

I have never done this before and I have about £80 worth of vouchers. Can I do this with vouchers I had from a previous statement? (I've been saving them up).

The double up vouchers are only valid on certain products in certain areas of the stores, clothing is not included this time and only certain electrical and certain wines.

Be very careful when you are doubling up if you are after certain things get the member of staff at CSD or the special desk to check that the products are covered by the double up vouchers you ask for.
