NCP Parking Contravention Charge

Hi I received one of these today. I was over my time by 15 minutes, but, I got held up unexpectedly. Frankly I was prepared for a ticket if I was unlucky, but, £100.00 or £50.00 if I paid early! I noticed on the board as I went into the car park that the penalty sum is blanked out with a white strip not showing any figure. I think the sum they are trying to charge is extortionate and completely unreasonable. Can I really just ignore? My mother in law died suddenly on Sunday morning and I really can't take any more stress and don't want to incur a bigger fine. I was looking to appeal, but, having gone on line and read this advice would prefer to ignore, but, I am worried as I am another Brit who hates confrontations. Look forward to hearing from you?

  • You won't incur a larger fine, you will however get begging letters asking for more money. After a while (shorter if you don't contact them) they will give up.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

This is NOT a fine, as you say it's a PARKING Charge (private) and not a PENALTY Charge (Council) you can be sure it's a scam, so relax!

Please ignore absolutely every rubbish letter they send you. You have committed no offence, you do not have a debt outstanding to them, you did not enter into nor break any enforceable contract and nor did you trespass nor cause any loss to the landowner or the PPC scammers. Overstaying is not an offence on private land and they have no idea who the driver was so cannot even begin to prove a contract existed.

There will be no repercussions, no effect on your credit rating. Nothing.

We speak from experience, I and most others on this board have ignored parking tickets like this. It's just a matter of ignoring a series of letters and pretty-coloured final notices saying they 'may' take you to Court, then they give up. NCP never, ever do Court.

Have a look at pictures of the letter-chain you'll have to ignore, it is NOTHING:

A few letters are not scary when you KNOW that they are standard letters and not backed by law, just keep the letters safe (you could have a case for them harassing you, which IS an offence!). Simply play snap as each matching threatogram arrives.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your Mother-in-Law. Do not give these scammers another thought, your family is important, a practice akin to a protection racket is NOT.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
