to convert it to a dvd you will need something like this http://www.trustfm.net/divx/SoftwareAvi2Dvd.html

you should then be able to shrink / burn

  • Hi
You'll need to convert it to dvd, In Nero you need to select Nero Vision, and then just add your file, and it will convert and burn it for you.
I personally use this one, but its not free, but its pretty good and fast.

Whilst the MSE saving may not be the place, we could well use a forum of freeware/shareware that copies/converts etc. Whilst I have bought Nero, plus Slysoft Clone, why is it that I always end up finding DVD Shrink 3.2 better, everytime, and free, for just copying a DVD.

And with so many people using PSPs, so few seem to understand that with PSP Video9 they can convert just about anything to run on the PSP, for free?

Please note, I am not suggesting a forum that explains how to rip anything to anything, copyright free, but just some ideas for some tools that have a track record behind them of just doing the job. And many of these would seem to be free - whereas a search for paid for products turns up zillions of products that in theory will do the job, which turn out to be very underdeveloped.

I'm not suggesting a rival to https://www.afterdawn.com, but just some basic links to freeware products and a brief description of what they do, and some kind of testimonial from a MSE member who rates them.

Anyone prepared to set something going?

On a simlar theme, I wanted to burn a DVD of a home movie. Using WinDVD creator the only way seemed to be to drag the VOB files across and burn. Any attempt to drag in whole folders or other than vob files failed. But this resulted in the sound being way out of synch when played on a std. home dvd player. I suspect that not using the IFO files may have somehow lost the synch information.

Can anyone recommend how to make a carbon copy of a home dvd (no encryption involved) which has a structure of VOB and IFO files?

nemo183, I downloaded DVD Shrink 3.2 but then discovered it seems you can't use it on it's own, need to download & install another program to do the actual burning and this 2nd program is a paid for one. Is this what you found? I am trying to create a simple copy of a whole DVD whose content originated from someone's camcorder.

Down load the divx codecs then try again with nero
