I would like a book case, 18cm deep (paperbacks only) 1 metre tall and 2 metres wide - to fit a space in the hallway
They are hard to find, the best I have found so far is from Jali, but it is over £200 and is flat pack MDF that needs painting
Any other ideas please?

Make your own ?
MDF is easy enough to work with, simple dowelled / glued joints ( the same as you get on most flat-pack stuff anyway ), paint it how you like. A bookcase would be a simple enough project for someone with basic DIY skills. And you don't have to use MDF, if you DIY it you have the freedom to use whatever type of wood you prefer.
If you're not confident of your woodworking skills, I'd suggest trying to find a local joiner, he should be able to make something up for you for a reasonable price.0 -

Yes - this is my husband's plan - trouble is, I have him so busy on the rest of the renovation work in the house I will have to wait far longer than I want for him to get round to this job! It would be nice to get the books out of the boxes!!Downshifted
