Any thoughts on "iSold It"

We recently went to the franchise exhibition in Birmingham and noticed a handful of organisations offering the service of placing people's items on Ebay for them (in return for quite a large commission). The most prominent of these was "iSold It".
Has anyone either experience of any of these set-ups or observations on the way they operate?

there is a local shop near me which offers a similar service, they photgraph and then list your item for 5% of the final fee. always seems quite busy. never used them myself though.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0

I know of 2 shops in Glasgow, by the look of it they both do ok. (there are probably lots more)
I can't imagine paying even more commission to sell an item, but for people who know little about ebay or the internet it must be a good idea. I guess getting something for an item is better than nothing for those who use these shops!0 -
We went to the show too and found the Isoldit pitch very interesting and well done. We had a long chat with one of the franchisees and came away all fired up as we found that there was a postcode near us still available.
However, having slept on it and asking a few people their thoughts, we think that unless the item to be sold is pretty pricey that people would be put off by what they would have to pay for the service. Also hubby has been to the USA since the show and asked people he met there if they knew the company and they had never heard of it but knew of other such companies doing the same sort of thing.
We don't think running a shop is going to be the next big thing for us.0 -

Having been a franchisee for nearly 6 years (and to an extent have still got the bug if the right product/service was available) I have learned that most of the Franchise backed/supported by USA are successful. I started in 1996 and franchises still going are McDonalds, Jani King, ChipsAway, I can name a few dozen that are no longer in existence, "But the business bug is still there";)"Did you hear about the frog that broke down on the motorway???? They toad him away!"0 -
Haven't come across iSold It but I do specifically target these ebay drop shop type sellers.
They generally know nothing about the value of what there selling, do very little if any research, list badly missing keywords that would attract buyers in specialist fields, won't answer any questions on an item - standard reply is "item is already packaged ready for posting so afraid can't answer your question" etc.
I buy quite a lot of them and then resell on ebay.
Good for buying but awful if your using them to sell.
But there's probably some good ones out there.0 -
I'm not familiar with such companies, but I can see the attraction for someone who wants to sell a one-off item and doesn't have an eBay account or know much about eBay. I've occasionally listed items for family and friends. The casual arrangement I have with my DH is that I'll list anything he wants to sell for him if he'll photograph me wearing clothes to sell on eBay. If DH isn't handy at the time, I have the same arrangement with DS!0
