travel ins needed to cover ryanair/seperate accomodation

hi
I have booked flights, accomodation, tranfers seperately so looking for an appropriate insurance policy.
I am going away twice this year so thought i may be better buying an annual family policy as hope to take kids away next year sometime too on a cheapo deal.
I dont want to pay out ridiculous excess charges as per person this is quite high if something did occur.
I did book a backpackers policy last december but havent a clue who i used now:(
could anyone advise the best policy or companys that do actually pay out as i did have a bad experience with one company years ago when i needed to claim and they kept losing documents till i eventually just didnt bother. obviously i hope not to claim at all and just enjoy my hols but dont want to pay 150 each out on excess if anything happened.
jo xx

I was in a similar boat a week or so back, asked a question here and recevied some very useful replies.

Many policies for independent travel appear to be underwritten by Axa, and I have seen posts here suggesting they have been a bit more fussy than others when it comes to claims - can anyone clarify the extent to which this is true?

You will need to read the policy key facts to find out how large the excess would be, and what kind of things are or are not covered.

For what it is worth, I sometimes use a policy called 24/7. I needed to claim the first time I used them (Ryanair cancelled my flight) and they did pay out, within a reasonable amount of time.
  • thank-you both for your replys, I'm currently reading through a few at the moment so will let you know if i find anything of value, I read Simons advice first but its hard reading through the small print, also wondering if extra c0ver for natural disaster covers snow as its not listed!
