if you are doing this "on the side" then be aware that if you need planning permission, and you come to sell the house, you may well be asked for it by the purchaser's solicitor.A house isn't a home without a cat.

I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

Surely you would recoup the £1000 cost when it comes to selling your property as you would have off street parking.
Personally I hate seeing cars parked outside peoples living room windows where once there was a garden. However with most houses now having 2 cars it's often the only option.
If you want a white H bar outside your drive you have to pay council to paint this too. You cannot do it yourself. Legally you can park on a white H bar and the person parking on it is only guilty of obstruction if there is a car on the driveway. If it's empty no offence.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

Thanks for all the replies...
Apparently, my county council (Kent), now accept responsibility as soon as the work is finished and inspected. Planning & insp costs around £200 which is on top of the contractor's cost of around £800-900. Approved contractors MUST be used - the quote is sent to KCC with the application and, once approved, the total is paid to KCC, who later pay the contractor!
I'd better start saving up...
EdI love a nice juicy "kebab"...0 -
My pavement is dropped already but there is a bit of grass between the pavement and our drive, so the council said we need it doing, they also stated they will decide on the amount we need doing and only to be done by them, now if we park on our road and our neighbour parks his van opposite, it blocks the road, no emergency vehicles can get passed, weve alrready had our car smashed all down one sise so i suppose we'll have to stump up the 900 they want from us:rolleyes:0
