I believe once the plating on things like your cutlery is damaged and so allowing the item to rust, nothing will stop it.

    RE: the cloudy glasses:
    What cycle are you using?
Do you put very greasy stuff in when you do glasses?
Have you tried changing the tablets you use? I find the really cheap ones rubbish tbh - a false economy imo

Are you using liquid rinse aid as well. If not try adding some.
Is the dishwasher on an economy setting where it doesn't heat to dry at the end?
Needs to heat to dry properly or it can leave marks.

The cuttlery admittedly is the cheap stuff,:o but i noticed when I washed them by hand it stopped. Also I do lob everything in so yeah greasy pots etc. Did use the cheap Poundland stuff, but also use the better brand...Thanks for your reply

Yes I do use liquids as well, but think you may have hit the nail on the head, I was using a rapid 30 min wash with no drying cycle ahh. :A cheers

With regards to the cutlery, I've sometimes found, it its resting against something cheap that does rust, you can get rust marks on the cutlery, even if they haven't rusted themselves. So what might initially look like rusted knives/forks, it actually just a rust residue on the surface and not actually the knives/forks rusting.
Was it just after filling the dishwasher with salt? Did you spill any inside it, whilst filling? I've noticed this can cause more rusting, as too much salt is going round

Definitely echo the remarks on cheap detergent - cheap supermarket/wilko's brand etc found them all crap, most stuff just doesn't get clean, and needs to go through again, or worse, has the !!!! dried on so hard they need a good scrubbing by hand. :(
