why don't you just exchange for the next size up? then you wouldn't loose the discount from the code?x

This is what I am doing but I am worried about ASOS selling out of the size I need. I have sent back the coat now to exchange- I didn't realise but only found out when I emailed, they wont refund the next-day-delivery (despite the sizing being way too small!-their error?) if I send back for an exchange, they will when processed, send back out the replacement the same method I originally used (next day) so I wont have to pay twice or wait for a month for it to arrive (10 working days to process, 10 working days to send out = 1 month) --I hope its faster anyway!!

Just hope the next size up is enough. I had been worried about the legnth across the back but its actually the arms that are too short! About 2 inches away from my wrist!

oOh ok :) hope it fits ok! I've never found them to take that long to exchange before if that is any consolation! But they do vary depending on times of year - but I don't think the Christmas rush has started yet :)

I tend to buy my size when it comes to coats. I also only buy them in the January sales to wear the rest of the year and beyond. This year I got 2 coats (teal one & black cape style one) and 2 longer winter jackets (one black belted & a red one). Had to restrain myself as I love buying new coats but I saved a fortune and have a great selection.

Am jealous! Its so cold out there and my jacket just isn't keeping me warm to put it mildly! I may look chic but I certainly don't feel it! Am hoping ASOS process this thing fast and that I get a replacement back by next Saturday....Oh how I wish I had gone on my gut feeling and gotten the size up!

I usually buy my size, and like Fiasco55 I buy my coats in the sales, ready for the following winter. Normally do the same with winter boots etc :)

Well, in my recommendation, don't do this with ASOS- unless they have sent me a Petite by accident it was very very tight.

p.s. to shop owners - turn your damn heating down in winter!!!!!!! It is like a sauna in most shops around now, yet we all have jackets and coats on - if they're warm enough for outside they're warm enough for inside, without sub-tropical temperatures.

I buy far less in winter and am convinced that it's because of the heating in shops. Either I get too hot and fed up, or I end up having to take off my coat and carry it, which means I can't carry much. So either way it's not good lol!!!

p.s. hello piratefairy, long time no see! :)

Its normally warm in shops as the staff, who dont get to wear a coat, scarf, hat etc. dont like to freeze whilst at work. Its even worse in the smaller shops as the door opening/closing causes such a draft !

^^Agree and very much needed! (I used to work in a store for and did so for several years, several different stores so do sympathise! In one store I worked in the heating was broken for 7 months from November. It snowed that year and one girl ended up in a drip in hospital due to pnemonia and an added infection the doctors thought was caused by cold and the dust which was stuck in the air-con the store would not employ a professional cleaner to deal with. Yes, the aircon was on when it was snowing, no I do not understand why the manager (sat up in her office with the heater) felt it was the right thing to do to leave it on... Name and shame...? Anyway! I digress!)

Went into London to try on several coats today from highstreet through to designer ranges (Selfridges!) and was quite suprized at how some coats in my size fitted perfectly, others I needed to go up 2 sized and some I needed a size down!

I guess its a really hard question I have asked and depends on the store and how their clothes fit as much as anything else. Really wish there were uniform sizes across the board but know from my own Uni education, until women stop wanting to be a dress size smaller, this will never happen.

I always get a size up if its from a shop I know I have to get a bigger size in, or the same size if I know it'll come up baggy (case in point, Gap and Punkyfish, I can get awaywith an L in both of those shops as they come up big on me, H&M I need the next size up cos of my boobs)
