I am just wondering if these 'no nails' products work and if I could use it to fix a curtain pole to the wall. I had a wooden curtain pole above my french doors but have had to take it down as the weight of the curtains, combined I think with crumbly plaster/wall keeps pulling the screws out.
As the weather is getting colder I could really do with getting the curtains back up. Hubby is useless on the DIY front - I guess it could be fixed with longer screws maybe but I can't do this. So I was wondering whether I could fix the bracket that the pole goes through to the wall with one of these 'no nails' products and it would work.
Sorry if I seem a bit dim but I have never read the 'blurb' about what these products can do exactly.

I wouldn't rely on it to hold anything other than trim in place that have a large surface area - things like architrave and skirting boards. Use longer screws and suitable wall plugs for your curtain pole that reach into the brick - you certainly shouldn't be relying on small screws that are screwed direct into the plaster.0

No nails... but you will still need screws.
Even when using the stuff to stick things with a large surface area, it is usually necessary to use some kind of mechanical fixing until the glue is dry.0 -
Using some decent size screws with wall plugs is the answer unless the wall isn't brick. If not brick then Pink Grip might do it depending upon the weight of the curtains because it is quite strong stuff but unless there is a very good reason not to use screws/wall plugs then I wouldn't use that. In that case only put the track up with something to hold it in place for 24 hours......that's what hubby is for
Then cross your fingers that it holds.
Use screws and wall plugs and you shouldn't have a problem providing there are no lights, switches/sockets or electric meters/consumer unit nearby.0 -
Even when no nails is dry if it is holding anything heavy (like curtains & rail) & it contact points are small then it is likely just to pull the paint off the plaster & you will find it all on the floor. Not Again0

            'pink' is good stuff0

It might be good but its only as good as the thing its stuck to. Paint does not have good weight-bearing properties.
Put in at least a couple of fixings into brick/plasterboard. Supplement with no nails etc if desired.0 -
The problem I can see and the reason why I think horseykitty asked about no nails and her mentioning that her hubby is no use at DIY is that they might not own either an electric or hand drill to drill the holes for wall plugs.
Many curtain tracks do have a reasonably sized area to glue to and cutting or scraping away an area of wallpaper or paint back to the plaster after marking around the track bracket should not be a problem.
The size of the track and curtains will affect how well it would work. Large full length lined curtains over a french window will be harder to fix using a glue type substance than a smaller track over a regular sized window.
Some PinkGrip @ £2.25 and a Applicator gun from Poundland is £3.25 plus delivery on the PinkGrip. If you find something else for the home, curtain hooks and any other items you need to push the total cost to £10 you would get free delivery so at least you would have some extras for the delivery saving.0 -
Hard to say without seeing it but if the plaster isn’t strong enough to hold the load using screws then my gut feel is it’s unlikely to be strong enough to hold the same load using glue0

It's completely pointless to use no nails if it requires screws as well.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
CT1 by C-Tec sticks anything even in the wet. The best stuff I have ever used.0
