    Hi

I am looking for a Ipod touch as cheap as possible for my 10 year old or a equivilant.

    Anyone got any idea?
  • There is a post on the threads here for an Ipod touch for £101 but it that price cos of Tesco points?

Cheapest I can find is £180

I have been looking at tablet pcs like ipod touch and a little larger more like the ipad and been reading lots of reviews about them.... too say I am confused now is an understatement so would like to be able to help you with other options... but not sure whats good and whats not :(
  • anyone have suggestions? also now looking for some children's books for a 5 year old girl - I liked the 10 books for £10 with the bear themes but theyve sold out. They also have charlie and lola but i really dont like these anyone seen similar deals?
We have a brilliant set of winnie the witch books from amazon. 6 books and 2 CDs only £9.40, and they come in a nice box. Fantastic illustrations, very funny and just about right for a 5 year old I would say.

I can't post links as I'm a new user but just search for winnie the witch on amazon.

I may well be wrong but I was under the impression that Ken was only available in the twin pack, with Barbie
  • Just a quick question. I am buying a dvd boxset and the cheapest is available on The Hut. As I have always purchased from Amazon before without problem and as I know nothing about the Hut should I pay the extra £3.00 or so and go with Amazon or would I be safe using The Hut. Thanks for your help!

Could you get him something like a fitness DVD for blokes or maybe a "use your body as a weightlifting tool" type book - so he could exercise while he's away from home? It must be terrible for him being stuck in a Travelodge 5 nights a week and eating take-out food a lot of the time too.

It would show you care and also recognise how hard life on the road can be.:D

Now this would ave been a fab idea as he is into weights and stuff but he is actually a member of the local Gym up there and home so I dont know if he would get much use from it, but If I can find one cheap enough then that might be a little extra for him, thank you! :)

How about an astronomy book to tie in with the telescope he is going to buy himself?

This was one of my ideas but im not sure of the best books to buy for that sort of thing, no local places round near me that sell them with knowledge about it, so was hoping the Amazon vouchers would be good so he could find one he likes. Thanks for the idea :)

What about gourmet syrups for his coffee, or the little discs with patterns cut out you dust chocolate through onto the froth of your cappuccino

Ahh, thats a cute idea. something he would like too I reckon. So might add that to the use your body as a weight book idea as little extras. (hopefully I can get the syrups in smallish bottles for his work bag!?!) Thank you :)

How about a digital photo frame so he can see you all while he is away or is that all so last year?

Unfortunately he isnt that sort of man.... He doesnt like to have that sort of thing on his desk at work and dont want to burden him with more stuff for his work/travel bag. I love the idea tho, if it was my mum it would be the perfect gift but not for dad, lol!! Thank you :)

Why not make him a little basket of goodies for when he is away from home ? Put a few bits n' bobs of his favourite things in-new mug (no need to find the coffee beans!)/any chocolate/biscuits he may like. Photoframe with family picture in/travel sized shower gel etc. (M & S have got 3 for 2 on mens toiletries). Buy a nice box or basket and print a title off the computer on it ..like Dad's a little Piece of Home Basket...or something like that. Can be as expensive/inexpensive as you want but still adds a personal touch. Good luck ! This Christmas stuff is
    hard!!:)

Another idea that I love but as he is in Travelodge he doesnt always stay in the same room each night so he takes his bag to and from work and packs essentials only in it. I would hate to burden him with more things for it. But the idea is fab and wish he had somewhere fulltime so I could do this. Its very hard buying for him, he is not your typical man into football, aftershaves etc... I always bought him LUSH gift vouchers as he used to buy a shaving foam from there which he loved but now he is using a philips shaving thing so cant do that this year :(. I hate buying useless presents for people too, ones that end up not being used. Just wish he would say ' oh I would love......' but no, im sure he dont like us to waste money on him, thinks we got better things to spend it on!! Thanks for the idea :)

If he is interested in getting a telescope how about some books to do with star gazing/astronomy?
We have a specialist telescope shop nearby that does a course on astronomy for beginners, maybe theres something like that near you?

This was my original idea, but I dont have a clue what sort of books would be good for him, I have done a search for one of those shops nearby but nothing and even asked a few staff in waterstones about some of the astronomy books but they have no knowledge really. But thank you for the idea :)
