my dad, very hard to buy for.....not into anything in particular as he spends 5 days a week living away from home (travelodge) for work and when he is home at the weekends he just chills with my mum or goes out for a coffee. He is a coffee lover but they have a expensive coffee machine and he buys his beans in London (special shop apparently). This was my only thoughtful idea for him and getting a bit stuck as he is very particular about clothes, shows etc...was going to go for socks but really feels like im not buying him anything useful. And if I ask him what he wants he says 'oh I will have a think and let you know' well he never does, no matter how much I badger him.
He has expressed interest in getting a telescope but im sure the one he wants will be way way way over my budget.
So any ideas for a 54 year old man (he dont wear aftershave either...god he is impossible!!)
would be very very gratefully recieved.
TIA
men are so hard to buy for eh!
does he drink? ( my dad gets a bottle of Rum each yr lol ) like music ? what about clothes ?
or what about a day out / trip somewhere ? or one of those "experience" type gifts
would he appreciate a hamper ? of his fave foods / sweets etc ?

You mention he loves coffee etc, could you find out from your mum his special shop in London he gets hid beans from then as mentioned put him a hamper together will a few different products from the shop or they may already have packed ones. I just like another poster also thought of giftcards or a ticketmaster giftcard for him for his shows etc.0 -
Oh lol, just realised when I said shows...I actually meant SHOES!!
He wouldnt go to a show on his ownbut I never thought of the gift voucher for a book, etc.....
I hate giving money but will see if he really wants some to put towards the telescope.
As with finding out the coffee, its a little shop in the back streets of london city and they dont have a website, got mum to check already. And im in Kent which dont help.
Thanks for all the ideas, I think the vouchers for amazon will be my best bet, he can choose DVDs or books or anything really.
Thanks very much all of you!!0 -
Could you get him something like a fitness DVD for blokes or maybe a "use your body as a weightlifting tool" type book - so he could exercise while he's away from home? It must be terrible for him being stuck in a Travelodge 5 nights a week and eating take-out food a lot of the time too.
It would show you care and also recognise how hard life on the road can be.:DMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

How about an astronomy book to tie in with the telescope he is going to buy himself?0 -
What about gourmet syrups for his coffee, or the little discs with patterns cut out you dust chocolate through onto the froth of your cappuccino0
