I've just gone out in my car and the engine light has gone off and it drives perfectly now!! Could it just be that the engine was very cold this morning? I only do very short journeys to work so the engine never gets a chance to heat up properly.

I'd suspect the MAF is on its way out and you'll get more of these bad idle/cutting out symptoms in the next couple of weeks.

The MAF is the mass airflow sensor, and is usually fitted to some part of the intake system/pipes/box. To be honest though, the kind of poor running which you have described could be any number of things - plugs (worn out, cracked insulation), coil pack, ECU, condensation (remove plug leads checking for water around plugs). Sometimes cracking around the plastic hoses on the airbox can lead to these symptoms.

Father in laws 207 was doing similar last week that's a 1.4 but a 16valve
Fault was coil pack breaking down worse when cold new coil pack and throttle body cleaned out runs as well as it ever will
  • I have a 206 petrol and I get the same juddering when I first start it in the morning. Usually have to give it a few extra revs to stop it. Then when I get to the end of the street and stop ready to turn out, it will do it again unless I give it extra revs. After that it is fine.

This only happens at this time of year. It was fine all through the summer months.

    Any ideas?

My car has started juddering when its first started and then it cuts out and the battery light comes on. If you start it again straight after its fine! This morning the engine light came on, and the car seems to be very sluggish when I accelerate. It was in the garage a month ago, had a full service, and the fuel pump was replaced. I've already spent £400 in the last month and don't fancy spending much more?

Any ideas what this could be?

    Thanks.

Had a service recently but how sure are you that they changed the spark plugs? If you can, take them out and check that they are new and the correct type & gap.

Worn plugs will cause what you describe. So will a coil pack but I'd start at the plugs.

That is the same as what I do in my car, I have to rev it quite hard or it cuts out, its fine once its been running for awhile though. Is this a Peugeot problem, talking to another lady at work, she has a 2003 reg 206 cc and hers judders everytime she starts it!

Mine was fine after the service and has only just started juddering again this week.

I'm not sure if they changed the spark plugs, they are a really helpful garage, so will call in the morning and ask. It was a full service though, but I'm not sure if the spark plugs are changed during a service as the norm?
