Hope you manage to sort out the pressure and do remember when bleeding the radiator to switch off the heating or you could import more air into the heating system and radiators. :)

We have a removable panel underneath our boiler where you insert a key to allow you to add pressure to the boiler.

  • Ah ha! Yes I do. Its not easy to photograph as its behind the sink. I see a round gripped valve on the hose that appears to feed the sink, don't see one on the one that feeds the boiler.

Unless its a self refilling boiler and something gone inside what the boiler make and brand?
  • Its an ideal icos HE24.

Meadows you're a star! Got it working now with those instructions.

Once I knew the bit I was looking for was a feedback loop I googled it and got the pressure back up to between 1 and 2.

Now that I turn it back on the needle seems to jump more than it used to - is this normal? Should I bleed the radiators again?

  • Re: loss of system pressure
The flexy thing you refer to is a filling loop, as you look at the boiler the two pipes furthest right are your feed/return, off these pipes one should have a spur coming off with a quarter turn fitting to fit your filling loop to, connect one end onto this and you should see another fitting on your CWM boiler feed, connect here, then open one isolation valve and slowly open the other untill you reach 1.1 BAR then close isolation valves and reinstate

    Hmm!

Don't forget to top it up when its cold not when its hot.

Thermal shock you know old chap!!!

How would you like to be all toasty and warm and somebody suddenly throw you in a bath of cold water? :-) :-)

    Don't vent any more rads.
Let it run for a while and settle down.

    Then see how they are.

Filling when cold has more to do with getting an accurate system pressure than thermal shock.
